Casino Crime Round Up: Thief in Wheelchair Steals $5K at Casino

This week, authorities were searching for a wheelchair-bound man who pilfered $5,000 in cash. The treasure was lying on the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh floor.

On March 8, a player at a slot machine had won the money. After putting it in his pocket, it fell to the ground.

According to Pennsylvania TV station WPXI, the winner didn't realize the money had dropped down and kept playing the slots.

One hundred dollar bills made up the pile of cash.

The cash was noticed by a man using an electric wheelchair. It was situated behind the chair occupied by the winner.

The liar seized the stolen goods. Then he ran off from the gambling area. 

It is estimated that the thief is between fifty and sixty years old. He is Caucasian. The anonymous victim is a resident of Westlake, Texas.

Deputies Invade Gaming Facilities
This week in North Carolina, searches of two illicit gaming establishments resulted in the seizure of 116 laptops, $67K in cash, and firearms.

According to North Carolina TV station WBTV, the raids occurred at two establishments: Shark Tank on Statesville Boulevard in Salisbury and VIP2 on Highway 801 in Woodleaf.

According to the article, authorities looked into allegations of misconduct at the businesses before approving the searches. 

Violence and Drugs

According to Rowan County Sheriff Travis Allen, there had been several violent occurrences, charges involving firearms, and drug involvement at both enterprises.

The operations were a part of an ongoing campaign to stop illicit gaming in the area.

"We're going to close down any of these illicit enterprises. In a statement, Allen stated, "Many of these places have been a hotbed of criminal activity, including shootings, assaults, and robberies with and without weapons.

"The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office will continue to make shutting down these establishments a priority, as they are one of the top complaints we receive from our citizens. Any businesses that are operating outside of North Carolina law in Rowan County have just been put on notice.”

The sheriff's office employed a BearCat SWAT vehicle, several officers, and specially trained dogs to raid the two establishments.

Authorities caught a felon in possession of a gun during the raid. There will be legal action taken. Cease and desist letters will be addressed to the business owners.

• 116 computers
• 111 computer monitors
• Five gambling devices
• Six fish games tables
• Two money counters
